Who was this again? Right, okay; Clarity Farrence was born to one of the rare examples of filthy-rich merchants in town, which of course meant they had - and used - every opportunity to travel in search of new wares and riches, which cruelly enough resulted in them leaving their daughter alone in town for months on end. Somehow, this led to her not making friends and constantly playing but rather developing a habit of taking excessively long naps to pass the time. Her record stands at about ~80 hours in one go, the last time she counted.
Ironically named 'Clarity,' her dozing habits cause a decent chunk of memory loss, making her average clarity of thought something of an all-time low. She still has trouble differentiating between dreams and what really happened, forgetting both of them just as easily waking up or not. Fortunately for her sake, years upon years ago she was given a Shinx as a birthday gift whom she soon named 'Sky,' "'Cause it was the first thing I saw while I was trying to think of something." He sees use as her personal alarm clock.
Such a thing is probably helpful due to her being one of the sole fishermen - if not the only one - in the village, having taken up the hobby due to its nature of, well, doing nothing for extended periods of time. Sky has learned to fulfill his role as helper by ensuring she doesn't slack off— normally it doesn't work all too well, which shows by the sheer amount of fish that make their escape on a daily basis. On good days they've been known to bring in a decent load, but that's usually once a season at best. Curiously, both of them are easily prone to seasickness, which may be why they can often be found at the same fishing spots.
Even more frequently, however, Clarity manages to do something over-the-top silly like forgetting where her parents hid the house-keys, which had already happened again this year sometime during Spring. Instead of motivation to get home some other way or asking the villagers for help, she does her work as always and instead pays visits to different residents of Oran every day, crashing on whatever beds/couches/etc they may have, sometimes asking nicely or offering to pay 'rent' but on more tired days suddenly being caught asleep in somebody's house without warning. All days are tired days.
Because of her tendencies to use sleeping-facilities of other people's homes, in recent years she's developed some preferences and keeps a diary containing information - which she'd likely otherwise forget - about which house is the comfiest, which villagers are the most hospitable, which sleeping positions are the best, which meals are best to have before a good nap, et cetera. Of course, all her sleeps are naps and all her naps are horrendously long, leading to an equally horrendous grumpiness whenever something cuts a good nap short. Not that such a thing really matters much, since the last dream she's able to remember is from ten years ago.
Clarity's skill as a trainer is… at best, limited to what she and Sky feel like doing, which usually ends up being not very much. Unsurprisingly, the former remembers none of the Shinx' moves and is known for ordering a move different than what she'd intended, with many a command being such gems as "Uh, do that thing you wake me up with!" His most common method of waking-up involves collecting static electricity and poking her. That said, battles often don't go well.
Despite her habits and primary hobby of napping, her secondary hobby fetches a decent-enough amount of pocket change to keep the duo fed and… afloat, for lack of a better term. Regardless, they still come and go between homes and even other miscellaneous village spots as they please, usually with a nap being taken in the most lively of situations. Sure, she'd prefer quiet, but why complain? A nap's a nap.
It's worth noting that her awake-personality isn't a drowsy or lazy one at all, but rather she's almost excessive levels of peppy and energetic before making the decision to take a nap and immediately dozing off for at least 13 hours at a time. Anybody meeting her for the first time would likely be shocked to later find out about her monster napping due to that nature of hers.
