Halfus was raised by his father in the early years of his life. His mother died during childbirth, and he never had a steady home; his father was a traveling trader of sorts, fancied himself an adventurer, a bard of sorts. He wasn't much of any of these things, but he meant well and cared for his boy, he just didn't have the skills to support him. When Halfus was still a young lad, his father left him with a human clergy, knowing they'd care for him where he could afford not to. It wasn't the ideal place to leave his boy, but he knew he himself couldn't afford to care for him any farther, and it was the best choice he could make at that moment as a father.

Halfus loved his father, despite his flaws, but also found faith with the humans and their teachings. He grew to love and trust their gods, and ultimately became a member of their clergymen. However, when he came of age to travel, he set off on a twofold quest; to find his father, and to spread the teachings of his faith.
