Contest Status effects:

POSITIVE Status effects: Status effects which benefit the pokemon afflicted. These are cured by the Dramatic Reversal effect.

Center of Attention”: A positive status effect. While under this status effect, this pokemon is the star! All moves performed by this pokemon have +1d6 appeal applied to them.

Oblivious”: A positive Status Effect. This pokemon may ignore any contest effect which involves setting down hazards or blocking terrain.

Heel”: A positive Status Effect. This pokemon is the villain! The Audience loves seeing the villain be despicable. If this pokemon makes Appeal Rolls in a type incompatible with a contest, they may ignore any penalties, and may gain voltage as if they used a move of a matching type if they are considered Visible. Incompatibly-typed Combat Maneuvers may also be performed without penalty to appeal, and may gain them voltage if they are considered Visible. Gaining the Face status cures and overrides the Heel status. If this pokemon gives any ally a positive status effect, they lose the Heel status.

Face”: A positive Status Effect. This pokemon is the hero! The Audience hates to see the hero defeated. If this pokemon is caught in the AoE of an enemy's move, that move is always considered Not Very effective and if the move is considered Visible, the opponent loses a point of voltage. Gaining the Heel status cures and overrides the Face status. If this pokemon gives any enemy a negative status effect, they lose the Face status.

Main Event”: A positive Status Effect. While under the effect of this status effect, this pokemon is the main event. Their next attack is considered Super Effective and after their round is over, they are cured of this status effect.

NEGATIVE status effects: Effects which hinder the afflicted pokemon. Cured by the Saving Grace and You Can Do It! Effects.

Nervous”: This pokemon is too nervous to use Combat Maneuvers or use activated items. At the beginning of this pokemon's turn, roll 1d6. On a roll of 1, this pokemon cannot use Cute Contest Moves for the remainder of this turn. On a roll of 2, this pokemon cannot use Tough Contest Moves for the remainder of this turn, and so on with 3 disallowing Beauty, 4 disallowing Cool, 5 disallowing Smart, and 6 meaning you may use any move you like unhindered. At the end of your turn, you may roll a save check, and On 13 or better, the pokemon overcomes its stage fright and is cured of the Nervous status.

Spent”: A negative Status Effect which cannot be healed by the Saving Grace keyword. This pokemon may move and use Combat Maneuvers, but they cannot use Moves until cured.

Clumsy”: A negative status effect. While under the effect of this status effect, this pokemon is clumsy. Their next attack is considered Not Very Effective and after their round is over, they are cured of this status effect.

Teased”: A negative status effect. While under the effect of this status effect, this pokemon MUST perform their next attack in an AoE overlapping with the pokemon who gave them this status effect, no matter where they are standing. After performing this action, this status is instantly cured.

Unsettled”: A negative Status effect. This pokemon cannot gain Voltage until they are either cured, or they take a breather.

Contest Props are held items, which may be activated as a Shift action. In Smart contests, activating a held item may gain a point of voltage if the pokemon using it is considered Visible. In Beauty and Cool contests, however, activating held items runs contrary to the contest's aims, and earns the user a penalty. See Combat Maneuvers in Contests below for more details. These items only have an effect in contests.

Even if these items change hands over the course of a contest, for example if striptease causes an item to be passed to an ally, the item may still only be used once per contest.

Items with Activated Effects (Great for Smart Contests!)

Bouquet of Flowers: An item which may be activated once per contest. Clown Nose: An item which may be activated once per contest. This item may be activated as a shift action to give the user the "Clumsy" status effect. If Clumsy is gained in this way, if a move is rendered Not Very Effective for the holder, the audience laughs and the holder automatically gains a point of voltage.

Single Rose: A consumable item which may be activated once per contest. This item may be thrown up to a range of 6 meters as a priority shift action to interrupt another pokemon's appeal roll. Reversible Mask: An item which may be activated once per contest. This item may be activated as a shift action on the holders turn if the holder is inflicted with either the Heel or Face status effects. Upon using the item, the holder's status switches from Heel to Face, or from Face to Heel.

Berries in Contests

Berries and Digestion buffs may be used in contests, although they work a little differently. The act of eating a berry or turning in a digestion buff gives you a flat bonus of +3 appeal, and counts for the purposes of "Using items" as a Combat Maneuver.

Mega-Stones

On top of a Mega-Stone's usual effect in Mega-Evolving a pokemon, upon Mega-Evolution, the holder of the mega-stone receives the "Center of Attention" status effect for free.

Combat Maneuvers in Contests

Instead of using a pokemon move, it is legal to use your standard action on any of the Combat Maneuvers which do not deal direct damage (So, Attack Of Opportunity is still illegal). Instead of rolling appeal when using Combat Maneuvers you gain a flat bonus equal to the Contest Stat aligned with the Maneuver. Since each Maneuver is aligned with a contest stat, and more or less counts as using a Contest Move, you can still gain voltage if your are Visible to the audience when you do it. However, if you use a Combat Maneuver in a contest of the opposing type, you lose a point of voltage and take a flat penalty equal to the Contest Stat aligned with the Maneuver… IF you are considered Obscured or Visible to the audience. If you are considered Not Visible, you take no penalty. You get the bonus or penalty for performing this action even if the action fails as long as the audience saw you try.

Attack of Opportunity, Disengage, Intercept Melee, and Intercept Ranged are not used in contests.

Manipulate actions cannot be used by pokemon and are therefore ineligible for contests.

Sprint actions have no contest type, and carry no penalty.

Disarm actions to force an opponent to drop a held item (Such as a prop they are using or a Contest Accessory they are gaining bonuses from) are considered Beauty actions (Because knocking clothes off of other competitors makes you look better) and are penalized when used in Smart and Tough Contests.

Dirty Trick actions to inconvenience your opponent are done with style, and are thus considered Cool actions. They are penalized when used in Smart and Cute contests.

Push and Grapple actions utilize your pokemon's brute strength and are therefore considered Tough actions. They are penalized when used in Beauty and Cute contests. Grapple actions which cause direct damage, however, are grounds for disqualification.

Trip actions are cute little accidents used to trip up your opponent. They are considered Cute actions. They are penalized when used in Tough and Cool contests.

Smart contests do not have a dedicated combat maneuver associated with them. However, if allowed to do so, a trainer Using Items on their pokemon is a very Smart action, and is penalized in Cool and Beauty contests. Pokemon using activated held items or digestion buffs on themselves during a contest also counts.

Notes for Battle Contests:

In the Battle Contest variant ruleset, your pokemon battle, using the normal function of their moves. Then they roll appeal and contest effects on top of that. However, In the case of moves which work off of their natural frequency instead of EoT, moves which have battle-effects but not contest appeal rolls (See the Static Contest effects), or a contest effect which costs voltage to use which you do not have, The rule is that if a contest move would not be legal to use or has no effect when used, roll the appeal as a NVE appeal roll with no added effect.

Also in Battle Contests, the Nervous status effect only applies to appeal rolls and contest effects, while Confusion (its Battle cousin) only applies to Accuracy checks and Damage rolls. That means a pokemon with the Nervous status effect may attack successfully and deal damage, but if the nervous effect procs, they will have done it poorly and roll no appeal. On the other hand, a confused pokemon may hurt itself in confusion, but may still roll appeal for the bold stylistic choice it made (Although your range for appeal rolls affected by confusion is melee-range only).

PSSSST, if you want to have a look, the fake moves in the Capxdex have Kamen Contest contest keywords added in case you want to use fakemons.
